The LED Strip powered by VizAlert™ is designed to light up hallways, bunkrooms, and response paths with a controlled red light when a call comes in. Instead of flipping on harsh overhead lighting, the strip gives you a clear, low impact light path from bunk to bay.

The red LEDs wake you up without disorientation and they reduce sleep inertia – the transitional state between sleep and full wakefulness. This is because the long wavelength of red lights causes minimal activation of the cells in your eyes that regulate your circadian clock and negligible melatonin suppression. So when you wake up to a call with EaseAlert®, it’s less jarring and easier to return to sleep than with traditional fire station alerting systems.
Middle of the night calls are hard enough without getting blasted by bright white lights the second you open your eyes. That shock to your system adds to the stress of the call, and over time it takes a toll on your health. This cumulative toll, known as “allostatic load,” is the biological debt your body accumulates from a lifetime of stress responses. For firefighters, every unnecessary heart-pounding alert adds to that debt.
The LED Strip exists to give you a better option. When combined with VizAlert™ and BunkAlert®, it lets the station wake up in a controlled way. Red light in the bunk and a red light path toward the bay instead of a full on fluorescent disorientation.
The LED Strip mounts along walls to create a visible egress path between bed and apparatus bay. It can also be used for daytime visual alerts in day rooms, kitchens, gyms, and more. It is powered and controlled through a VizAlert™.
The LED Strip when the CCU triggers an alert for that part of the station, the VizAlert™ activates and sends power to the LED strip. The strip turns on in red, lighting up the hallway or room so you can move quickly and safely without squinting into harsh lights.
After 60 seconds, the strip turns back off and the station returns to its normal low light state.
The LED Strip powered by VizAlert™ is one of the visual pieces that makes Firefighter Alerting different from traditional station alerting. Instead of going straight from dark and quiet to bright and loud, you get a staged response:
The result is a smoother, safer movement from bed to apparatus and a better shot at protecting your sleep between calls.
Where should we install the strips?
Common spots are along bunkroom walls, hallway walls, stairwells, gyms, day rooms, and kitchens. As long as you have a regular 110/120v power outlet, we’ll be able to install the LED strip there.
Do they stay on all night?
No. They only turn on when an alert is triggered, then shut off after 60 seconds.
