For a lot of firefighters, the sound of the tones alone is enough to spike your heart rate. Even off duty, some people still flinch when they hear something that sounds like their station tones. That is not your fault, it’s physiological conditioning.
SafeTone™ exists to reduce that shock. We know we cannot remove sound from the equation completely. You still need to hear when there is a call. But we can change how that sound is delivered. The outcome is healthier and more effective fire station alerting with EaseAlert’s SafeTone™.
SafeTone integrates with your alerting pathway so that when the CCU is activated, the audible alert that plays in the station follows a specific, softer pattern instead of the traditional jarring blast.
A .wav file is programmed to the SafeTone™ to play each time the CCU activates it. The SafeTone™ has a VizAlert™ in which will shine a red LED for 60 seconds to provide visual alerts in addition to the ramp up heart-smart alert from the SafeTone™.
It is loud enough to be heard (ramping up to max volume of ~85 dB) with a volume control knob to allow for quieter alerts based on each crew member’s preference. Combined with TacPods™, VizAlerts™, BunkAlerts®, and LED strips, it becomes one part of EaseAlert’s enterprise multimodal fire station alerting system that uses multiple senses, not just noise, to alert firefighters.
SafeTone™ is the sound piece of Firefighter Alerting. It is what you hear when the CCU activates, while TacPods™, VizAlerts™, and BunkAlerts® handle what you feel and see.

Is it still loud enough?
Yes. SafeTone can be ramped up to a full 90dB (similar to someone shouting). And it is designed to be heard clearly. The difference is in how the sound is heard, ramping up from quiet to full volume with a custom .wav file for heart-smart alerts.
Can we still use our existing speakers?
Yes. SafeTone does not play audio from dispatchers or radio traffic, so you should keep you’re your existing PA in place.
Does SafeTone™ replace my PA system?
No, SafeTone™ just plays a pre-programmed .wav file for a heart-smart alert tone (a.k.a. “ramp-up alert”) in addition to shining red LEDs.
