Early Adopter Visit: City of Morrow Fire Department

Video from EaseAlert’s visit to Morrow Fire Department.

In January of 2022, co-founders Blake Richardson and Elezar Tonev had the opportunity to visit the City of Morrow Fire Department.

Morrow Fire Department is a two-station department located on the southern fringe of Atlanta, GA. The department also became one of EaseAlert’s first Early Adopters in 2019 when Morrow Fire Chief Roger Swint reached out to Richardson. Richardson and Tonev asked to ride along with Chief Swint’s crews in January with two goals in mind: to better understand the day-to-day life of a firefighter and to experience EaseAlert firsthand.

During their time at the department, they were able to learn more about each fire firefighter, why they chose to be in the fire service and their take on the EaseAlert system after using it for several months. The feedback that Blake and Elezar gathered was overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing EaseAlert’s power to reduce stress and improve efficiency for the responders.

“I loved the fact that it activates before the startling alert system.”

“I could tell my heart rate was a lot lower by using EaseAlert.”

“I felt less of an anxiety factor by being gently wakened before the loud buzzer goes off.”

“Allowed me to wake up with more ease when receiving a call.

City of Morrow Fire Department supports EaseAlert for their fire stations and fire fighters. The technology reduces stress for fire fighters on the job and reduces the startle response. It improves firefighter health and safety.

The crews were exceptionally welcoming, giving Tonev and Richardson the true fire department experience. “They welcomed us with open arms,” Tonev stated. “We got to truly experience a day in their lives. We partook in station duties, grilling burgers, playing cornhole, and responding to emergencies when the community was in need.”

Blake and Elezar were able to experience EaseAlert in action when the station was dispatched to a roadside emergency. This ride-along allowed the co-founders to see exactly what it is like to be ready for action at a moment’s notice and all the precision and planning that goes into keeping both civilians and firefighters safe when tending to an emergency.

The EaseAlert team is very thankful for the hospitality of the Morrow Fire Department and the support from Fire Chief Swint, Deputy Chief Piper, and the MFD crews.
